Option A

For my first solution, I scrapped the original YouTube interface design and minimized the content shown on the screen. I believe many of the calls to action on each page were too much which took away direction and the general focus of users.

Below, I offered a solution that requires minimal content while serving all the essential elements needed for users to view, filter, and manage their subscriptions.

Integrating Direction

  1. Include the number of new videos from each channel.
    • This allows users to preview before being directed to another page.
  2. Place a "Manage" button on the top right, an accessible and visible area for users to find.
    • Within the subscriptions management page, users are able to sort the order in their liking. The left swipe gesture had no purpose. Removing it decreases the amount of movement users need to take resulting in a smoother flow.

3. Place an "Insights" button on the top right of the subscriptions page

  • The activity of subscriptions are showcased (ex. Brb_bbj hasn't uploaded in 6 months)
    • This gives users an easy way to view information. If a channel hasn't uploaded in a year, it would encourage a user to unsubscribe which would increase user investment and decrease frustration.
